Back skiing cross-country. This time without breaking any rental equipment; you can read about that in my previous post. Today is good weather, good friends, and good tea.

If such a thing as perfect cross-country conditions exist, today we have them. The air is crisp, and the snow is firm. There is sun, but not too much sun. The tree branches droop heavily with powder. Visibility is great; you can see the peaks of the mountains above us.

Our friends Losha and Dasha join us today. They are the same friends who joined us for a hütte vacation earlier in the year (post covering that up next). Losha is an expert on tea. He mainly does Gongfu tea, an Asain ceremony made with a series of pots, small cups, and a wooden pouring table. Out here, we don’t have these luxuries, but a warm thermos with tea prepared at home is heaven.

Much more successful than our last outing, cross-country skiing is growing on me. I’ll be keeping an eye out at yard sales this year for skis. Join me again next time.
