Instagram the home of my art work and a few personal photos, 2012 - 2020.
Hello Internet I’m archiving/deleting/disabling my Instagram today!
I haven’t regularly checked Instagram in years. Basically it was a place to post my art and share that with friends. The way I share content has changed and I’m no longer interested in being part of Instagram / Facebook. Take control of your data friends!
This post serves as an archive of every art thing I’ve ever posted on Instagram. By the nature of publishing this media on my blog it is backed-up via git, in my control, and does not rely on big tech. Another small step of independence.
Future art posts will be from my new fediverse art account art@social.travisshears.xyz or rss.
I started using Instagram Freshmen year of college, October 15, 2012. Most posts centred around my first studio project which focused on tectonics.

University of Wisconsin Milwaukee’s architecture program was an absolute blast. From being a member of the studio community, to the countless hours creating things, to the stressful critiques it was a pivotal chapter in my life. Perhaps I’ll write more about it someday. Until then, if you ever get the chance to go or send your child I highly recommend it.
Another year of studios.
Made it to Milwaukee Art Museum a few times and where I discovered tensegrity and Buckminster Fuller.

Helped a friend with a 3d print then made a rendering from it.

The first studio final project was a butterfly center that used wind and thermodynamics to create exhibits.

The second was a school built into the landscape.

My later college years things got increasingly weird. I was a research assistant at one point working on models and procedurally generated stuffs. Ton of fun. My final project was a video game exploring the relationship of digital / physical in Milwaukee. I played split screen with a critiquer in final crit.
