Anthony Bourdain's Mortadella Sandwich

Always loved watching Anthony Bourdain's cooking / travel shows growing up. I've yet to, but I'm looking forward to checking out his books like Kitchen Confidential.

This recipe is super super easy. I just write it so I remember that this is all that is in it and I don't need to add anything.

What

  • Mortadella, higher qulity the better. Should have pistachios in it.
  • Cheese, provolone not super easy to find in Munich. Any white cheese that melts nice will do.
  • Bun - he suggests kaiser bun, sourdough, I like brioche.
  • Mayo, homemade if time allows
  • Mustard, dijon, normal yellow mustard, I like sweet mustard.

How

  1. Butter the griddle and toast the bread
  2. Fry the Mortadella on one side
  3. Flip the meat fry bit more then add cheese
  4. Pop in oven to melt cheese
  5. While cheese is melting prepare buns with mayo and mustard
  6. Add meat with melted cheese on it to sandwich
  7. Enjoy

Best with a big salad as it is pretty grease.
