Portokalopita Phyllo Cake
What
- 214g / 1 cup sugar
- 4 3-inch strips orange zest
- 0.5 cup orange juice (how many ml?)
- cinnamon stick
- 2 cardamom pods, lightly smashed
- 3 bay leaves
- 227g / 8 ounces phyllo, thawed
- 214g / 1 cup sugar
- half an orange orange zest
- 240g / 1 cup whole-milk Greek yogurt
- 1 cup neutral oil
- 5 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon table salt
How
- Prep Phyllo
- Take the phyllo out of the packaging, removing the baking paper, and roll it length wise.
- Cut roll every 1.5cm
- Unravel on large baking sheet
- Bake for 15min at 180C
- Prep Syrup
- Add sugar, orange strips, bay leaves, and cardamon pods to a small pod and bring to a simmer
- Once everything is dissolved pour into beaker and let cool
