Dive Shop: mojo dive
Dive Site: richies-place
Similar to dive 18 the camera got stuck in time-lapse mode and didn’t capture much. The following is the few stills I was able to pull.
The stretch of paved walkway along Playa Chica was packed with divers. Vans from ten different dive shops line one side and an explosion of dive gear the other. While it is far from a solitary nature experience I didn’t mind it. Everyone was professional and courteous. Lot of buddy checks happening and people sharing in conversations about gear. Just from what I heard dive briefings were given in Spanish, English, Italian, German, and Dutch. Every dive master had a binder of dive site maps like the one I’ve posted below. There was even a diving couple where the mom made the first dive with the dad waiting on shore with the baby. Then after her dive they switched and she breast feed wearing a wet-suit. Pro moves.
This was our second boat dive of the day. Instead of going south the we traveled north along the coast to a section of barrier reef known for an abundance of life.
Believe it or not we saw our second Angle Shark of the trip on this dive. No footage unfortunately. Seeing a shark in real life felt different then I expected. It almost felt as if I was watching a nature documentary. What I was seeing through my mask seemed like TV even though it was very much real. Now I’m interested in seeing more sharks like hammerheads and reef tips.
