Another nugget from my dive through the SSB docs:

"The ssb protocol was initially implemented in javascript, and it relied heavily on implicit behavior of the node js runtime. People (including the authors of this specification) have called the message format "bizarre" and worse, and that is entirely justified. But when during reading you inevitably think "How could anybody end up with this, I could have done a much better job.", then remember: Maybe you could have, but you didn't."

Where historical context is lost, digital art seems like it is new, but is impoverished without its original grounding in craft.

Added umami tracking to my personal site. I don’t have huge traffic but it was useful to discover people reach my site from the cool merveilles search engine https://lieu.cblgh.org

Quarantine is over for my Foxface rabbit fish!

So far he alternates between quivering in the corner and swimming confidently around the tank.

Somebody contributed to one of my random side projects!

He added the Ewbank climbing grade system to my converter site.

Got three Blue Green Chromis today! Here they are in the quarantine system. So cool to see them scholing. Nothing scholed so much in my freshwater tanks.

@kev what a beautiful fish. I’m sure she has a good life under your care. I’ve recently started a reef tank and hope in 8 years I still have some of the original stock.

Kessil H80 order for my refugium project. Hopping to lower nitrates from 15ppm to under 5ppm before I turn the display tank lights on.

Week one behind us. Two more to go before we can put him in the display tank.

This quarantine process is going to take serious time. 3 weeks per fish 😔.

Today is water change day. That means a lot of testing.

Nitrates are rising in the XL300. Hopefully next month I’ll be able to implement a refugium with macro algae to reduce those. The month after that the goal is to get a light and first coral.

Just finished a backup script to tar the screenshots that pile up on my system. I keep coming back to PERL for tasks like this. Closer to normal programming then BASH but still great shell interlope.

Learned that getting date strings is pretty easy. 🧅⏱👍

use POSIX qw(strftime);

my $tar_name = strftime "pic_dump_%d_%m_%y.tar.gz", localtime;
my $tar_full_path = "/tmp/${tar_name}";

Blogging about my recent ski tours and I noticed mountains are hard to talk about. Describing terrain in detail requires a ton of vocab. So far I found:

https://outdoors.stackexchange.com/questions/14992/terms-for-different-parts-of-a-mountain

Thinking of documenting these words somewhere myself as I build out my mountain vocab.
