We don’t make it into the mountains as often with a five month old, but when we I’m thankful.

Back in the mountains above Achensee yesterday. We had to retreat from our route up Hochriss on account of so much a snow.

Took the Giga Jel for a spin. Tried:
- Assisted lead belay
- Lowering climber from above via redirect belay
- Repelling in assisted mode with device attached directly to harness
Only thing left to try is belay from above in manual mode with device attached to anchor.

While slightly heavier then our Petzl Reversos I think it makes up for its weight with utility.

Snowboarding at Ehrwald then cross country near Kaltenbrunn. We made challenging hilly route do to a Langlaufen competition in the valley. Acquired new bruises from trying to carve on cross country skis, 😅⛷. The fitness adventure in the mountains was worth it.

Continuing to log all my ski tours this year.

First one:
https://travisshears.com/blog/around-rauhkopf/

Thinking of breaking them out of the blog and turning them into something like my dive log. Or just a better way to integrate the maps with the photos. Also a search with a map would be nice to see where they all are in relation to each other.

Also we got lucky and saw some Chamois. First time for me. They are sort of a goat deer mix.
